Essential Gyrators and Equivalence Rules for 3-port Junction Structures

چکیده
It is shown that a theorem on essential gyrators presented by Rosenberg (1) and used in (2) claims too much and that the internal structure ofthe multiport elements ofthe system must be studied in order to be able to decide whether a gyrator is essentially contained in the system or not. Bond graph terminology is used (3H6) an d a new theorem is formulated, which provides un algorithm to decide on the essentiality of a gyrator by immediate inspection of the bond graph. As a side-result of this approach some new methodsfor junction structure simplification can be formulated. The signtjicance of junction 3-ports for the concept of the essential gyrator is elaborated by providing equivalence rulesfor all kinds ofjunction 3-ports and introducing a unit essential junction 3-port (ES) and a unit non-essential junction 3-port (NES). Finally the hydraulic junction is treated as an example of a physical non-potential junction, i.e. a junction congruent with an ES.

Relationship to the ideal transformer
A gyrator is a passive, linear, lossless, two-port electrical network element proposed in 1948 by Bernard D. H. Tellegen as a hypothetical fifth linear element after the resistor, capacitor, inductor and ideal transformer. Unlike the four conventional elements, the gyrator is non-reciprocal. Gyrators permit network realizations of two-(or-more)-port devices which cannot be realized with just th...
متن کاملDecomposition of Multiport Elements in a Revised Multibond Graph Notation
Decomposition rules are derived for multiport-transformers, -resistors, -storage elements and -gyrators into land 2-port elements, junctions and bonds. It appears that it is useful to extend the vectorbond, or rather multibond, notation recently proposed by the author with a “multibond array”. Canonical forms are introduced on the basis of minimal realization, because decompositions of multipor...
متن کاملProcedures for Time - Varying Impedance Synthesis *
In this paper we consider linear, lumped, finite networks composed of interconnections of time-variable and passive resistances, capacitances, inductances, gyrators and transformers. We assume an impedance matrix port description of the network is given and solve the problem of synthesising the impedance, that is, we determine a set of passive elements and a scheme of interconnection which yiel...
متن کاملEquivalences in Bicategories
In this paper, we establish some connections between the concept of an equivalence of categories and that of an equivalence in a bicategory. Its main result builds upon the observation that two closely related concepts, which could both play the role of an equivalence in a bicategory, turn out not to coincide. Two counterexamples are provided for that goal, and detailed proofs are given. In par...
متن کاملBack and Forth between Rules and SE-Models
Rules in logic programming encode information about mutual interdependencies between literals that is not captured by any of the commonly used semantics. This information becomes essential as soon as a program needs to be modified or further manipulated. We argue that, in these cases, a program should not be viewed solely as the set of its models. Instead, it should be viewed and manipulated as...
